Sonic the Hedgehog #227 #227 eBook Ian Flynn Patrick Spaziante Tracey Yardley Terry Austin Reviews

The four-part Genesis arc continues. The awesome storyline is complemented by some more art by Spaz and picks up where the last issue left off. After Dr. Eggman escaped from his first battle, Sonic, Sally, Boomer and Antoine continue on an instinctive quest to rid the world of him once and for all. Of course, they are still unaware that their planet has been warped into a new version of Mobius.

Their journey continues through an ancient ruin that takes Sonic and his friends underwater. Then, the journey continues through a futuristic city. This is the first issue in the arc to have serious drama. A Freedom Fighter falls to their doom and we begin to worry for them. It would seem the Genesis arc is not just fun and games because the characters are getting deeper to the heart of Eggman's plan.

Quite strangely, all the characters keep recalling memories from the previous version of Mobius that we left behind in issue 225. This is the issue where Sonic first realizes he's jealous for Sally but can't explain why. It only makes the mystery more intense from their point of view.

But although we are enjoying the Genesis arc, it does not give us a lot of answers. Since we are eagerly awaiting the conclusion of the cliffhanger of issue 225, we'd like some insight while reading the Genesis arc. But unfortunately, this issue doesn't tell us much more than we already know. But the crush between Sonic and Sally becomes more apparent and hopefully that will be expanded upon before this arc is concluded.

I don't have much to say in this review that I haven't already said in the review of issue 226. But this is still a good story line that is going to be remembered for a very long time.

My Support for Princess Sally (part 2/4)
(<--- Issue 226)

I know Sonic is considered a player. Sometimes it's because he is the victim of circumstance and other times he's careless. Sonic has dated other girls, like Mina Mongoose, Bunnie Rabbot, Fiona Fox and Amy Rose. But even though he is thoughtful and considerate of these girls he has always cared the most for Sally. He has turned down most of his girlfriends in favor of Sally, which obviously means he wants to be with her. But I find it strange that the fan-base is so outspoken; telling Sonic that this girl is ideal for him and Sally is not. If Sonic were a real person I'm sure his supporters would not pry into his personal life in such a way. Sonic is as alive to me as any of my friends in real life and I would never march up to my friends and tell them to dump a girlfriend (unless I was a big jerk).

But I think the reason the fan base is so opinionated is because most of Sonic's girlfriends are vulnerable. Most of these girls are incomplete without a man in their lives. After fans fall in love with these characters they start demanding a blind date between Sonic and this girl. The only way for these girls to develop as characters is to give them a romantic outlet, otherwise they just sit around waiting to be kidnapped. Mina Mongoose had this sort of problem until she and Sonic agreed their relationship was not working.
